About Patriot Waters

Our Mission

Our goal at Patriot Waters is to help transform the lives of veterans with disabilities by providing adaptive scuba diving, freediving, and fishing charters. Through meaningful ocean experiences, we create opportunities for personal growth, foster a strong sense of belonging, and support emotional and physical healing. By connecting veterans to the restorative power of the sea, we honor their service and empower them to thrive.

Addressing Veteran Suicide

At Patriot Waters, we are deeply aware of the struggles many veterans face, including the ongoing challenge of veteran suicide. While our programs provide therapeutic outdoor experiences that promote healing, connection, and personal growth, we are not a substitute for professional mental healthcare. Our mission is to create a supportive environment through meaningful ocean experiences, but we encourage veterans to seek professional help when needed.

If you or someone you know is struggling, please reach out to a trusted resource:

 Veterans Crisis Line: https://www.veteranscrisisline.net

National Suicide Prevention Lifeline: https://www.suicidepreventionlifeline.org

Vet Centers: https://www.va.gov/find-locations

We are committed to being part of the solution by offering programs that help veterans find purpose, connection, and strength, but professional support is critical for those in crisis. Together, we can support our heroes on their journey to recovery and hope.

I grew up in upstate New York, always drawn to nature and the outdoors—it’s been a constant in my life. After serving as an infantryman in the U.S. Marine Corps, a life-changing accident in 2019 left me disabled. I spent years relearning how to walk and adapt to daily life, knowing my journey would be challenging but far from over.

After retiring from the Marine Corps, I moved to South Florida in search of purpose. I spent years navigating the corporate world, trying to balance work with my love for the outdoors, but the 9-to-5 grind just didn’t cut it. Eventually, I turned my passion into a career, working on the water as a fishing guide, scuba diver, and U.S. Coast Guard 6-Pack Captain.

Through Patriot Waters, I’ve found a way to turn my experiences into something bigger—helping fellow veterans reconnect with the ocean, find healing, and regain a sense of purpose. I believe that what I’ve been through has given me the opportunity to inspire others and show them that life after service, even with challenges, can still be full of adventure and meaning.

I’m Jake Marialke, I grew up in upstate NY and always had a strong connection with nature and the outdoors in general.  I served as a Marine from 2015 to 2019, and my time in the military has shaped my journey in more ways than one. After transitioning to civilian life, I moved to Florida and took up scuba diving shortly after. Whether I’m diving or exploring nature, I find peace and purpose that inspires me to give back to other veterans.

Through my role as VP, I’m dedicated to helping veterans experience the healing and camaraderie that scuba diving offers. I believe the ocean has a therapeutic nature that can help veterans reconnect with themselves and each other. We aim to make these transformative experiences accessible to as many veterans as possible, offering them a new way to heal and thrive.

I grew up in Islamorada, and ever since my first dive at 12, the ocean has been part of my DNA.

My students describe me as a patient, dedicated instructor. Their safety and well-being are my top priorities. With a deep passion for the ocean and a background in law enforcement, I take pride in sharing my love for the water while keeping safety and compliance at the forefront. My teaching focuses on a safe, welcoming environment, clear instruction, and hands-on practice to build confidence.

When I’m not in the water, I spend time with my best friend and wife, Sherry. I’m a proud father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Every Saturday, I play guitar at church for Pompano’s homeless community. At the end of the day, I’m just a simple man who loves the ocean and unwinding with a cold Bud Light.

My Credentials:
100 Ton Master Captain
MDEA Instructor Evaluator, SDI / TDI Open Water Instructor
Ocean Reef IDM (Integrated Dive Mask) & Underwater Communication Instructor
